iDoceo has now become indispensable to many of us. We have lots of our pupils marks and progress recorded on it. Many of us have also used it to record examples of good or indeed poor homework for parental interviews. The thought of all this going missing therefore would fill many of us with dread. As with everything, the solution is simply to back up your iDoceo. This is a straightforward process you will be glad to know.

Facebook can be used as a fantastic tool for updating friends and family with how you’re getting on in life, that is when you’re not being distracted by another cute cat video! It’s easy to end up adding a lot of personal information to your Facebook profile, most of which you may not want to be accessible by anybody who isn’t your immediate friend or family member. This is especially important to anyone working in education, as you probably don’t want your latest holiday photos to be stumbled upon by your students!
Even if you’re careful about what you post online, you may not be aware that some older posts that you’ve been tagged in could possibly still be accessed by strangers. There’s a privacy setting on Facebook called ‘Friends of Friends’ that a lot of people are unknowingly using, which means that all of your photos can be accessed by anyone who is friends with one of your Facebook friends - that means that if you’re friends on Facebook with your son or daughter, all of their friends might still be able to access your profile!
Read on to find out what your profile looks like to strangers at the moment, how you can ensure the what you post in the future is kept private, as well as how to make sure any of your previous posts are strictly only viewable by your specific friends!

Thursday 23rd - iDoceo (Period 2 & 8) G29
Friday 24th - Weebly (Period 3 & 8) G29
There's no need to sign up, simply drop in to either Kim's room on Monday or John's room for the rest to get caught up with the latest technology for teachers! We hope to see you at some point during the week :)
For the past year, Lagan College has been using Meraki as tool to manage all of the iPads in our school. Whilst this has served us well, there have been concerns that we haven't been able to address using our current system.
Teachers want to be able to stop students playing games or using the camera in the classroom when they aren't supposed to be. Parents share the same types of concerns for when their son or daughter is at home. Teacher's and Parents both want more control over the iPad's, and we are finally able to provide that with our new iPad Management System - ZuluDesk.
What is ZuluDesk, and how can it benefit you in the classroom or at home? Read on to find out!
Showbie is a fantastic app that let's teachers and students share work with each other digitally on the iPads. Showbie Pro offers many benefits over the regular version, which we're excited to be bringing into Lagan College in August!
But what exactly are the benefits of using Showbie Pro? Read on to find out!
As we come to the end of the first school year in which iPads have been introduced to students in Lagan College, we can look back and see all the positives that have come from this new transition. Teachers are using apps like iDoceo to plan for their lessons, Showbie to reduce the amount of paper they use, and the recently launched SIMS app to have access wherever they are.
However, there have still been issues that we've been tackling throughout the year. Some of these have been specific, such as how to let students type onto Showbie documents? Others have been more general, such as how to give teachers more control over the iPads in their classroom, and how to give parents the same level of control at home?
We've been researching and evaluating the best solutions to all of these issues, and we think we've come up with the answers. And so, we're interrupting our normal flow of tips to bring you some breaking news - Showbie Pro and ZuluDesk are coming to Lagan College in August 2016!
Showbie Pro brings a ton of features that make it the perfect app for teachers and students, the most welcome being the ability to use the keyboard to type onto documents without the need of another app! ZuluDesk will be replacing the current Meraki system and it will finally give both teachers and parents control over the iPads in their classrooms and at home.
We'll be detailing all of the benefits of these two new apps over the next few weeks, and we're also working on brand new how-to guides for both Showbie Pro and ZuluDesk. To keep yourself updated on both of these exciting updates, make sure to be checking back to TeacherTec!
Padlet is a resource that offers great potential, if the teacher can think of a way in which to use it effectively. Its premise is simple: a teacher can create a virtual wall onto which students can place posts. It is similar, therefore, to the classic plenary activity where the ideas of different groups are written on post-its before being added to a poster for later review.
Many thanks to Raymond Cummings for writing this article based on his personal experiences using the Padlet app to share information with his class!
Sometimes it can be really handy to take a photo of whatever is on your iPad's screen, also known as a screenshot. Maybe you want to demonstrate something to someone in an email, or remember something that's popped up on your screen!
Welcome to TeacherTec,
The best collection of resources for using technology in your classroom!
