Some students can use this to be sneaky in class, to quickly open a game or their Instagram while a teacher isn't looking, then open them back when the coast is clear!
Slide Over lets you quickly access an app whilst you already have one open. You could quickly check your calendar while typing an email, add to your notes while browsing the web, or do some other brief task while staying in the app you're in. Take a second to think about how many pages you print or photocopy in just one week for your classes. Then think about how many pages of homework you collect in from your students each week. Multiply that by 39 weeks - that's a lot of paper! Lately, a new crop of apps have emerged such as Showbie and Google Classroom that boast a number of benefits to embracing a 'Paperless Classroom'. Here are our Top 3 advantages to joining the revolution! Well folks, here it is. The moment you've been waiting for. SIMS has arrived on the iPad! From now on, you are no longer tethered to your PC to mark attendance, find student info or update your marksheets. Now you can easily mark your attendance from the playing fields, look up a parent's phone number on the move, or update your marksheets as you're marking coursework from home. Of course, we've updated TeacherTec with full step-by-step guides on everything you need to know about SIMS for iPad. We'll also be organising some hands on training before the end of the year if you'd like to ask any questions face to face. But for now, enjoy your new freedom as you roam the world with access to SIMS on iPad! Everyone has some kind of party trick. One person might be able to 'guess' the number that you're thinking of, another might try to impress the crowd with their unique rendition of Wonderwall (don't do that). At your next party, you can be the coolest kid on the block when you whip out your iPad and navigate it like magic with these 3 Multi-tasking Gestures!
We've all heard people say it - you should always close down all of your open apps on of your iPad, right? Wrong! In the world of PC's, the more apps you have open at once the slower your computer gets and the quicker it runs out of battery. Except the iPad isn't a traditional computer, it's much smarter than that! AirPlay makes it easy to wirelessly display whatever is on your iPad's screen on your whiteboard using the AppleTV (check out our How-To guide on setting this up!). You can do much more with this though than simply playing YouTube videos to your class! Like many of us, your iPad can start to act a little slower when it’s gotten too full. Here are our Top 3 tips to clearing up some free space!
Have you ever wanted to quickly send some photos from your iPad to someone else's, but can't be bothered attaching them to an email or uploading them to Google Drive? iPad's have a built in feature called AirDrop that allows you to directly transfer photos from one iPad to another and it couldn't be simpler to use.
You could use this in a class to send or receive work directly from a your iPad to a student's if it's something that isn't relevant to your Google Classroom or Showbie Class! Check out the first of our TeacherTec Tips videos and let us know in the comments if you'd like to see more like this! The iPad can do so many amazing things, it won't be long before it's able to make us a cup of tea. But did you know that you can speak out loud and have it automatically type anything you say? Read on to find out how!
